final exam

It's time to start studying for the final exam.

Here's a copy of a practice test: https://math.byu.edu/~wright/Math%20110/ExamsWinter2010/FinalW2010.pdf

After you complete this test, please go through and check your answer with this key:

Just as a reminder, your TA's are doing a review on Friday from noon-3 pm. This is a great opportunity to get help.

Check back for more final exam review dates and times.

Your final exam will be comprehensive (over all course material). The exam will be offered in the testing center. Please plan to take it early so that you don't have to wait in such long lines.

If you didn't make it to class on thurs, Mar 31 we reviewed for the test. We went over fall 2009 test 4. Because of this we didn't get to talk about 9.2. Please be sure to take the exam and then get started on 9.2. Your TA's will cover 9.2 during labs. ON tues, we will discuss 9.2 a little and then talk about 8.5. Please read your sections before class. Have a great weekend.

Do you need extra help? Here's some ideas.

Did you score below a 70% on the last test?  It's time to take advantage of all your resources.  Here's what you should try

1) Friday Help sessions: Every friday, in TMCB 173 from 12-3 pm
2) TA office hours: ask your TA for extra help.
3) Math Lab: Go to the math lab. Studies show that students scores improve from attending the math lab.
4) Watch the videos
5) Come to my office hours: T/Th right after class from 1-2 pm TMCB 174
6)  Form study groups. Work with each other.

Please speak with your TA's if you are struggling. We want you all to have success in this course so you are able to move on and be ready for Calculus.

Day 5 Graphing Rational Functions Lecture Notes

Here's the handout we worked on in class.
Hope you'll take the time to finish it. This will help you with your homework.

Also, I'm told that some of you can't access the lecture slides. I'm not sure what's going on with it, it works for me only some of the time. I'm researching the problem. Here are the lecture slides. I didn't use them as much today since we did the handout on the board.

what can you expect the test will look like

The question has been asked, "What can I expect the test will look like?"

The test looks just like the tests have looked from previous semesters. It's the same length, multiple-choice, etc. Be sure you study all 3 of the previous semester exams. They can be accessed at:

www.math.byu.edu

under Math 110 course. Today in class I gave you the test from Fall 2010. Kerry has posted specific directions as to how to do each problem if you get stuck. See previous posts for the solutions for Fall 2010.

Hope this helps.

Here is the link for the handout on polynomial function and the powerpoint we used in class. It appears that the copy is a bit off when I converted it into a google doc, just disregard the parts that look like gibberish.  I will try to fix that.

I still need to finish up the section so we can graph the polynomial functions.

I will do that on Thurs and then we'll start the new material.

Hope everything is going okay for all of you.
You are on my mind often and I hope that I'm able to reach you even though class time goes so fast.

Let me know if you need anything.

New Videos for 4.2

Hey class,
I've posted some new videos about stuff that's going to be covered in 4.2. If you're feeling swamped by information, these videos are a great way to get caught up, and they supplement the reading really well. We're giving A LOT of resources to help you succeed. Normally, in a college class, the professor lectures, gives you a syllabus and some office hours, and you're on your own. You should utilize these resources.
